Job summary

HTU seeks a Substitute Librarian to support preschool through eighth-grade students within a Catholic school community in Washington state. The role involves managing books, materials, and technology; supporting core instruction; and leading a middle school elective as opportunities arise.

You will organize book fairs, collaborate with colleagues through the PLC, and bring creative ideas to enhance library and instructional programs for diverse students and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or similar field; Master’s preferred.
• Current Washington or out-of-state teaching certificate, or ability to obtain one.
• Desire to work in a racially and economically diverse, faith-centered community.
• Effective communication with staff, students and parents.
• Ability to manage a classroom with respect and creativity.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a long term Substitute Librarian for preschool through eighth grade classes.
• Manage books, materials, and technology in the school library.
• Support core instruction in primary and middle grades.
• Lead a middle school elective as opportunities arise.
• Organize book fairs and other library events.
• Collaborate and plan jointly with colleagues through the PLC process.
• Implement creative new ideas to enhance library and instructional programs.
• Work with students and families from diverse backgrounds in a Catholic setting.
