Job summary

The Nutrition Group is hiring a substitute food service worker to support a local school kitchen. This daytime role involves cooking, portioning, serving, and maintaining sanitary conditions in line with USDA guidelines.

You will handle cash/register duties, monitor inventory, and work with a positive ethic. Reliable transportation and willingness to learn are required; food service experience is preferred. This is a day-shift, Monday-Friday position with PTO and 401(k) benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interact professionally with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to read recipes and perform basic math for portioning.
• Positive, reliable work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Food service experience preferred but not required.
• Computer literacy preferred for POS and basic tasks.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare food in school kitchen as needed.
• Portion and serve meals to students.
• Maintain sanitation in line with USDA and state guidelines.
• Ensure HACCP and health department regulations are followed.
• Monitor costs and inventory controls where applicable.
• Operate a cash register / handle money accurately.
• Perform dishwashing and general cleaning duties.
