Our Head Cook leads a small staff, prepares meals from scratch, and ensures quality and timely service in a fast-paced environment. The role emphasizes HACCP compliance, cost control, and nutrition education for students and the community.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a school food service setting preferred.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly.
• Able to lead a small team and follow supervisor directions.
• Strong communication with employees and clients.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
• Criminal background check required.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare meals from standardized recipes.
• Monitor quality, timing, and serving of meals.
• Lead food service staff and substitutes; train and direct.
• Manage ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory per HACCP.
• Conduct cost control analysis and monitor menu costs.
• Promote nutrition education in school and community.
• Ensure compliance with USDA regulations.
• Maintain equipment and monitor temperatures.
