Job summary

Taher, Inc. is a family‑owned food service management company focusing on K-12 school meals, corporate dining, and catering. We are seeking a kitchen lead to cook meals from scratch, supervise staff, and ensure quality, safety, and timely service in a school setting.

Candidate will manage inventory, follow HACCP and USDA guidelines, and work to improve nutrition education in the community while maintaining confidentiality and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Strong communication with employees and clients.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand long periods.
• ServSafe certification preferred.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensures meals meet quality standards and are prepared on time.
• Monitors food service staff and substitutes in prep and service.
• Prepares al menu items for regular and la carte lines.
• Leads a small staff with clear direction and training.
• Checks equipment and monitors temps in refrigeration/freezers.
• Uses leftovers per standards and HACCP policies.
• Manages ordering, receiving, storing and inventory for perishables.
• Reinforces USDA regulations and cost controls.
• Establishes monthly food and labor cost goals; reduces waste.
