Job summary

Community Action Wayne/Medina is seeking a dependable Cook to prepare nutritious meals that support children’s health, learning, and development while maintaining a safe kitchen environment in Lodi, Ohio. The role is part-time and part-year, non-exempt, with a pay range of $16.55–$17.56 per hour.

Responsibilities include meal preparation, kitchen sanitation, safe food handling, and supporting Head Start meal services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Six months of food service experience preferred; school/childcare/kitchen experience is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and storage practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required food safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks per approved menus and standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and food service area.
• Follow safe food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature monitoring procedures.
• Transport food to Head Start centers using approved containers and procedures.
• Assist with family-style meal service and cleanup; support children during meals.
