Job summary

West Valley High School is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily meal preparation and service under the Kitchen Manager. The role requires handling kitchen tasks, inventory, cashiering, and maintaining safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced school environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, WA Food Worker Card, fingerprint clearance, and I-9 eligibility. Training within 30 days is required; 50+ pounds lift is part of the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Maintain a valid WA Food Worker Card.
• Fingerprint clearance (WA State Patrol and FBI) required.
• Valid Washington driver's license (or evidence of mobility).
• I-9 Employment Eligibility.
• Complete district-required trainings within 30 calendar days from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist and contribute to preparation, cooking, and serving of meals.
• Follow established food safety and sanitation rules.
• Clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, equipment, and kitchen areas.
• Assist with inventory, restocking, and daily kitchen tasks.
• Operate POS terminal and handle daily deposits and related paperwork.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding free, reduced, and paying students.
• Contribute to meal counts and production records.
• Assist in training substitute workers and student helpers.
