Job summary

Douglas County School District is hiring a Kitchen Assistant at Ranch View Middle School. The role is part-time (0.50 FTE) with about 20 scheduled hours per week, based in Idaho schools as needed.

Responsibilities include setting up and cleaning serving areas, serving meals to students, following HACCP and health standards, and assisting with dishwashing and storage. Training in USDA standards is required and ongoing professional development is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work with stakeholders to support positive outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the proper setup and cleanup of serving areas for timely service to students and dishwashing, ensuring sanitation of workstations.
• Serve meals daily while complying with school food regulations and HACCP standards.
• Follow menu and recipe instructions; ensure proper food temperatures, appearance and portion sizes.
• Assist in unloading and proper storage of delivered food items.
• Learn and operate Point of Sale system; reconcile monies daily for accuracy.
• Build positive relationships with the community including staff, students and parents; focus on customer service.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally; maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Participate in required USDA Professional Standards training and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and travel to multiple schools if needed.
