Job summary

Douglas County School District is hiring a Kitchen Assistant for the Castle Rock area to support daily meal preparation, service, and sales across multiple school kitchens. The role requires ServSafe knowledge within 6 months, strong customer service, and flexibility to operate at various sites.

Responsibilities include maintaining meal counts, following recipes, handling POS transactions, and ensuring food safety standards.

Effective oral and written communication skills.
Maintains a generally positive attitude.
Observes all District policies and procedures.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Verbal and written communication skills in English and ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation, service, and sale of meals following recipes and portions.
Maintain daily meal counts and production records.
Set up and clean serving areas, ensure HACCP compliance.
Operate POS and reconcile monies daily.
Open/close/cook/serve in absence of Kitchen Manager.
Travel to multiple schools and maintain flexible schedule.
Receive deliveries and manage inventory.
Lead kitchen staff training and complete USDA standards.
Serve meals daily under health and safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
