Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is hiring a Kitchen Assistant at Norris Middle School in Omaha, NE. This full-time position starts immediately and offers a benefits package. The role includes food preparation, serving meals, cleaning, and maintaining safety and sanitation in a busy school kitchen.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and reliable attendance. Prior food service experience is preferred. You will work 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with local travel to other OPS sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must demonstrate excellent attendance and work record.
• Previous food service and preparation experience preferred.
• Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations using money, weight, and volume.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, service, and storage of food.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and kitchen areas.
• Support cash procedures and record keeping for student meals.
