Job summary

Compass Education is seeking a Hardware Technician to install, configure, diagnose, repair, and upgrade in-house hardware and IT assets. This hands-on role keeps equipment running smoothly and supports colleagues across the organization.

You will manage hardware performance, document issues, assist with new projects, and coordinate with vendors while maintaining inventories and reporting. Prior Jira experience and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience (2+ years) installing, configuring, diagnosing and repairing PC hardware and peripherals.
• Working knowledge of networking hardware and workstation operating systems.
• Experience resolving hardware issues through a ticketing system such as Jira.
• Clear communication skills, and comfort training and supporting non-technical staff.
• An organised approach to documentation, inventory and reporting.
• Experience working with suppliers and third-party vendors.

Responsibilities

• Plan, document and maintain hardware performance procedures and logs.
• Document failures, repairs, installations and removals accurately.
• Support new computer projects and new hardware installations.
• Keep hardware contracts up to date and supervise contract-based installs.
• Install, configure, test, maintain and troubleshoot end user workstations and networking hardware.
• Diagnose and resolve PC problems on-site and coordinate off-site repairs when needed.
• Respond to hardware tickets and train staff on computer operation.
• Build and test customised configurations across platforms.
• Liaise with third-party vendors and suppliers as needed.
• Build and maintain an inventory of monitors, keyboards, drives, printers and peripherals.
