• Remote work and residency must be in Ohio or within 50 miles of the Ohio border.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and protects the health status of all students and advises staff on health issues.
• Develops policies, procedures, and work standards for the school health program with leadership.
• Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local health laws and policies.
• Organizes, screens, and conducts health appraisals for students and staff.
• Records immunizations and health data in local, state, and federal databases.
• Provides health guidance and health science instruction to students.

Job DescriptionThe School Health Specialist provides preventive health services to support the education process by working to ensure the health of students in a manner that promotes optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development. The nurse identifies problems and disabilities and provides such services as case finding, health education, referring and care to help prevent serious health problems which could later be more difficult and costly to address. They help with onboarding requirements, Medical 504 and IEP, and track medical concerns for the school and families.START DATE: 2026/2027 School year, ImmediatelyCompensation: This position has a non-negotiable salary rate of $40,000.Residency Requirement: This position is remote, and candidates must reside in Ohio or within 50 miles of the Ohio border.Required Certificates and Licenses:A college degree from an accredited institution is required.Current LPN license or higher-level healthcare license/credential in the state in which the employee will perform services, as applicable to the position.
