Job summary

Philip's Academy Charter School in Paterson, NJ is seeking a dedicated School Certified Nurse to advocate for student and staff health. You will perform health screenings, manage records, administer medications, and support health education within a technology-infused learning environment.

Required are a Nursing degree and NJ State Nurse Certification (or commitment to obtain within 60 days). Prior school nurse experience is preferred; strong ethics and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required.
• NJ State Nurse Certification (or commitment to obtain within 60 days/12 months).
• Minimum 2 years school nurse experience preferred.
• Pass background check and mandated state education requirements.
• Knowlege of health services, assessments, and school health program administration.
• Ability to document and maintain health records accurately.

Responsibilities

• Complete records and carry out medical orders issued.
• Plan mandated health screenings and assessments.
• Maintain confidential student health records (immunizations, referrals).
• Submit medical forms and reports promptly.
• Follow disease control protocols and exclusion/readmission guidelines.
• Administer medications per NJ State Law.
• Provide emergency care for illness or injury at school.
• Support teachers with health-related matters and classroom activities.
• Attend staff meetings and committees as needed.
• Assist supervision during recess, lunch, and other times.
