Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. In this onsite, part-time role at Tallmadge City Schools, you will take vital signs, assist with examinations, collect specimens, document in the EMR, and support families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Experience in healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
• Experience with EPIC or similar EMR preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of MA Certificate Program/EMT/Paramedic required; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of program.
• BLS certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA/RMA).

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients and families.
• Prepares patients for examination; measures vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; assists with exams and procedures.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under supervision of licensed staff.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens per policy.
• Documents care in the medical record accurately and timely.
• Performs department-specific duties (POCT, hearing/vision screens) and routine office tasks.
• Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms.
• Develops positive relationships with patients, families, school personnel, and colleagues.
• Follows safety policies to ensure a safe environment for all.
• Other duties as assigned.
