Job summary

Maricopa Unified School District is seeking a Health Assistant to support students and staff in the school health office. The role involves assisting with medical care, medication administration, immunization checks, and health documentation in a busy school environment.

You will work under the nurse and building principal to ensure student safety, coordinate screenings, and help with enrollment health requirements. This is a 9-month, full-time position based in Maricopa, AZ.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year health experience is recommended but not required.
• Valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred.
• HIPAA/FERPA knowledge and basic healthcare procedures.

Responsibilities

• Attends to the health needs of students and staff requiring medical attention and makes referrals as needed.
• Assists in maintaining the school health office and health records and immunizations.
• Assists with vision and hearing screening.
• Assists nurses with administration of medications per policy and law.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, and health office paperwork.
• Notifies principal and nurse of emergencies and handles enrollment-related health matters.
