The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, and may prefer certifications such as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Medication Aide. CPR/AED and vision/hearing screening credentials are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year health experience recommended but not required.
• Preferred certifications: Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, EMT or Medication Aide.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Hearing and Vision Screening certification when space permits.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Attends to the needs of students and staff who are ill or require medical attention.
• Assist in maintaining the school health office and health records; ensure immunizations are up to date.
• Assist with vision and hearing screening.
• Assist nurses with administration of medications per district policy and Nurse Practice Act.
• Monitor supplies and equipment; complete and maintain paperwork and files.
• Notify principal and nurse of emergencies or outbreaks; report suspected neglect/abuse.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
