Job summary

Rio Rancho Public Schools seeks a Health Assistant at Sandia Vista Elementary School to support the school nurse in providing acute and chronic health care for students. The role requires independent work while following district policies and procedures.

The position includes vision/hearing screenings, medication administration, and maintaining health records. 190-day contract with duties aligned to RRPS health services and education programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a Level 3 K-12 Educational Assistant License.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a NMPED Health Assistant License.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a Substitute License.

Responsibilities

• Assist in non-professional health functions and follow RRPS health room policies.
• Maintain student immunization records and health records as directed.
• Administer first aid to students and staff per nurse instructions.
• Refer students to the school nurse as appropriate.
• Perform routine office and clerical duties as needed.
• Keep nursing supplies stocked and health room organized.
• Respect confidentiality of health information at all times.
• Conduct vision and hearing screenings as assigned by the school nurse.
• Support ongoing health trainings and documentation requirements.
