General Statement of Responsibilities
To provide health related assistance to students; to assist in creating a climate of health and well-being; to ensure that there is a caring and understanding environment for students
Essential Functions
A. OFFICE INTERACTION
- Assists with the preparation of a physical environment that meets the needs of students;
- Assists with data entry of student health records/reasons for absence/special reports;
- Performs typing and filing as required;
- Assists with telephone coverage;
- Assists with attendance activities, including verification of and reasons for absence;
- Maintains health supply inventory;
- Assists with completion of state and county reports;
- Assists with immunization records and deficiency notifications;
- Maintains emergency release records;
- Assists parents with information regarding outside agency information and referral;
- Participates with the Youth Service Team and assists with Wellness Center activities;
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
B. STUDENT INTERACTION
- Administers basic first aide to students;
- Performs visual, auditory, and special education screenings;
- Supervises students as assigned;
- Assists with health education activities;
- Transports children as required;
- Administers medication under supervising Registered Nurse;
- Will be trained to administer Insulin, Glucagon and EpiPen injections, as needed;
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Post high school education or training;
- One year of related work experience;
- CPR and First Aide certification required immediately upon employment;
- Ability to communicate and work well with staff and students;
- Data entry experience desirable;
- Experience in medical field preferred.
