Job summary

Homestake Peak School is seeking a Health Assistant to support student health and well-being in a full-time capacity. Under supervision, you will provide basic first aid, administer medications, assist with screenings, and promote healthy practices across the school community.

Responsibilities include maintaining confidential health records, coordinating with the District Nurse and School Principal, and supporting teachers and staff to keep students safe and healthy during school activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and first aid and CPR procedures preferred.
• Previous experience in healthcare, educational, or childcare setting preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Recommended completion of Hepatitis B series of immunization.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic first aid and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications and procedures to students as ordered by the prescribing physician and delegated by the District Nurse.
• Assist with health screenings and promote healthy habits among students.
• Maintain confidential health records for students, including treatment logs and health assessments.
• Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student health issues, concerns, and required follow-up care.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure safety and health of students with medical needs in the classroom and at events.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and report shortages.
