Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a Health Assistant to administer health services for students and staff at Sousa Elementary. The role includes first aid, medication administration, and emergency care in accordance with district policies.

Strong communication and the ability to work within a school health team are essential. The position supports student health through screenings, immunization oversight, and documentation, with a focus on confidentiality and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified or Nationally Registered Medical Assistant or EMT Level 1 with CPR is required.
• Moderate proficiency in typing; knowledge of computer applications (Synergy preferred).
• Working knowledge of immunization requirements per Arizona State Law.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an individualized assessment and prioritizes needs per district emergency guidelines.
• Provide emergency care and monitoring for students and staff at assigned school site.
• Administer medications per physician orders and parent consent following district guidelines.
• Identify medical needs for students with Diabetes, Seizures, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, and mental health issues and respond accordingly.
• Perform routine health screenings and maintain accurate health records and confidentiality.
• Prepare and distribute instructional materials as directed by the school nurse.
• Maintain health office operations and supplies; ensure on-time attendance and performance of duties.
