Job summary

Woodridge Local Schools is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. The role operates M-F during the school year, onsite at the district facility.

Your duties include preparing students for exams, recording vitals, phlebotomy as needed, and medication administration per policy. You will document in the school medical record and assist with routine office tasks and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC) or similar software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively interfaces with patients and families.
• Prepares patients for examination; takes vitals; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers per policy and procedure.
• Collects data contributing to assessments under supervision.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens per policy.
• Communicates patient findings to the Provider/Nurse with proper documentation.
• Accurate and timely documentation of care in the school medical record.
• Performs department-specific duties such as POCT and screenings.
• Performs routine office tasks (faxing, copying, filing) as needed.
• Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms.
• Develops positive relationships with patients, families, school personnel and colleagues.
• Completes all assignments during scheduled hours.
• Follows safety policies to maintain a safe environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Medical Assistant Certificate Program (MA), EMT or Paramedic Program

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
