Job summary

You will supervise kitchen and dining staff, coordinate training, manage menus, orders, and records, and work with principals to maintain high service standards across facilities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• General Experience: progressively responsible experience in food preparation including quantity cooking, menu planning, fiscal recordkeeping, and storage.
• Specialized Experience: school food services management with daily operations including quantity cooking, menu planning, purchasing, storage, fiscal management, and compliance with laws and sanitation requirements.
• Supervisory Aptitude: demonstrated supervisory potential through leadership roles or training.
• Non-Qualifying Experience: excludes limited or single-phase kitchen roles or fast-food operations with limited menus.
• Certification: valid food handlers training level certification.

Responsibilities

• Determines and develops plans for efficient service, equipment, facilities, and operations.
• Manages and directs daily food service operations; reviews and revises procedures.
• Maintains high standards of quality control for food production and distribution; ensures USDA meal pattern compliance.
• Participates in interview and selection of staff; plans, directs, schedules, and evaluates work; may supervise students.
• Provides orientation and training; ensures required training hours are met.
• Estimates and orders food and supplies; maintains inventories and records.
• Maintains cost-effectiveness; monitors expenditures and processes invoices.
• Inspects kitchen and dining areas for health and sanitation compliance; schedules maintenance of equipment.
• Coordinates satellite food service operations as needed; attends staff meetings; maintains certifications.
