Job summary

Howard County Public School System seeks an Area Field Representative to lead the food and nutrition service program across assigned schools. You will plan, implement, and oversee operations to meet nutritional, educational, and financial goals while ensuring safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include staff training, policy interpretation, menu evaluation, inventory control, and coordination with principals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Completion of the Maryland Certificate for the Applied Food Service Sanitation Management course within six months of employment.
• Several years of supervisory experience in large school food service operations.
• Preferred degrees in nutrition, dietetics, or related field with relevant coursework.

Responsibilities

• Instruct managers and cafeteria staff in all aspects of the food and nutrition service program.
• Determine compliance with federal food program requirements, free/reduced-price meal procedures, and civil rights regulations.
• Interpret and implement policies for countywide school food service operations.
• Plan and conduct training programs and evaluate menus for all programs.
• Oversee inventory control, food orders, and catering events.
• Maintain liaison with principals and respond to inquiries from community, staff, and students.
