Job summary

Howard County Public School System is seeking an Area Field Representative to oversee school food service operations across a geographic region. You will ensure nutrition standards, regulatory compliance, and safe, sanitary conditions in cafeterias and catering events, while coordinating menus and staff supervision.

This role requires extensive knowledge of federal meal programs, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings for events.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or higher and Maryland certification for Applied Food Service Sanitation Management.
• Experience: 7 years supervisory in large school food service; 5 years with an associate degree; 3 years with a bachelor’s or higher.
• Preferred: dietetics/nutrition related degree, RD credential, proficiency with nutrition software.

Responsibilities

• Instruct managers and cafeteria staff in the food and nutrition service program.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and free/reduced meal procedures.
• Plan menus, supervise staff, oversee catering events, and maintain safety standards.
