Job summary

Champion Local Schools in Warren, Ohio is seeking a Mechanic 8 hrs. per day at Champion Schools (260 day contract).

The position involves maintenance and repair of buses, trucks, and maintenance equipment, with emphasis on safety and compliance with state and federal regulations. A CDL with School Bus, Passenger, and Air Brake endorsements is required or obtainable within six months; background checks and drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of and experience as a mechanic.
• Proficiency in the repair and maintenance of buses, trucks, and maintenance equipment.
• Basic knowledge of body repair, welding, and fabrication.
• Ability to maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping.
• Ability to respond to transportation-related emergencies.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to school bus operation, vehicle emissions, inspections, and driver qualifications under all OAC 3301-83 codes.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards.
• Must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher, with School Bus(S), Passenger (P), and Air Brake endorsements, or be willing to obtain the appropriate CDL classifications within six months.
• Must hold or be able to obtain Ohio School Bus Operator Certification through pre-service training and in-service requirements under OAC 3301-83.10.
• Must hold current, successful BCI and FBI background checks.
• Must successfully pass a drug screen.
