Job summary

Magen David Yeshivah is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Staff member to help maintain the school’s facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and able to perform general maintenance and minor repairs throughout the school building.

The role is onsite full-time with an 8am to 5pm schedule Monday to Thursday and 8am to 2pm on Fridays, with overtime available but not required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in general maintenance, building repairs, or facilities support preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and general repairs is an advantage.
• Ability to identify maintenance issues and determine when professional assistance is required.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift and move furniture and supplies and perform physical tasks as required.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment for children and school personnel.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs throughout the school, including classrooms, offices, hallways, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other repair tasks within the scope of training and authorization.
• Inspect school facilities and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or repair needs.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of classrooms, furniture, equipment, and school events.
• Maintain school grounds and entrances as needed, ensuring they remain safe and presentable.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and storage areas organized and secure.
• Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment when necessary.
• Follow all school safety procedures and use tools and equipment responsibly.
• Work collaboratively with the maintenance team, housekeeping staff, and school administration.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
