Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Head Custodian to provide a safe, attractive, clean learning environment for students and staff. The role includes supervising custodians, managing supplies, and ensuring building security and safety to support teaching and learning.

The position requires leadership, the ability to read operating instructions, and the capacity to train staff. Experience in facilities or school district custodial work is preferred, with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
• Ability to train and supervise custodians.
• Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises cleaning and maintenance of all boilers and other major equipment.
• Assists in snow removal.
• Requisitions and receives supplies and equipment.
• Maintains necessary inventories of all supplies.
• Lays out and schedules work for other custodians.
• Assumes general responsibilities for security and fire safety of buildings.
• Monitors all heating and cooling systems.
• Assists in keeping the building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• This position will require lifting, mobility and stamina to complete the assignments.
• Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent and/or board may deem necessary.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
