Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated custodian/janitor to support building operations under the supervision of the Building Principal and Custodial Director. The role follows a 12-month term aligned with the school calendar, requiring the ability to perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and security tasks across the building.

Responsibilities include coordinating with other custodians for events, reporting repairs, and ensuring safe environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated employment history.
• Strong communication and professional conduct, maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Custodial/Janitorial work, including cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms and hallways as part of the daily schedule.
• Ensure building security and report needed repairs to the coordinator.
• Coordinate with other custodians for maintenance and event setup/breakdown.
• Shovel snow and apply salt to steps as needed during building usage.
• Move furniture or equipment as directed by the Principal or Custodial Director.
• Perform routine building maintenance (change filters, clean gutters, change lights, etc.).
• Monitor exit doors and crash bars during occupancy hours.
• Maintain adjacent school and building grounds.
• Communicate absences via Red Rover/Time Management and HR as needed.
• Check district email regularly and respond as required.
