Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of general maintenance experience.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act and related laws.
• Competent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to operate and maintain needed tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to implement preventive maintenance programs and follow safety rules.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and exert up to 75 pounds of force.
• Capability to work indoors/outdoors year-round in varying conditions.
• Flexibility to work after hours, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of facilities, furnishings, and shop areas with supervision.
• Keep shop areas clean, neat, and safe; service vehicles as required.
• Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Use and maintain tools and materials responsibly.
• Request supplies and equipment needed for duties and projects.
• Assist designated technicians and specialists in tasks as assigned.
• Respond to emergency calls promptly.
• Maintain safety as priority for students and staff.
• Engage in training to improve knowledge and skills.
• Report problems and irregularities to supervisory personnel.
• Maintain reports and correspondence timely and accurately.
• Adhere to board policies and state/federal laws.
• Document absences and manage leave per policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
