Job summary

Alabaster City Schools in Alabama is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep buildings, grounds, and equipment safe, clean, and functional. This is a twelve-month, 240-day contract with salary according to the district schedule.

The role requires a high school diploma, good health, building maintenance or related experience, and a valid Alabama driver’s license; CDL may be required. The technician will supervise staff and report to the Principal and Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Good general health is required for physical duties.
  • A valid Alabama driver’s license is required.
  • A commercial driver’s license may be required in some situations.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise cleaning and ensure standards are met.
  • Regulate heating, air conditioning, and other environmental controls for economical use of energy.
  • Open and close the building as directed by the principal.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair work.
  • Maintain a daily work log and report to the Coordinator of Operations monthly.
  • Report maintenance problems to the principal for special assistance.
  • Maintain equipment files and logs for all mechanical systems.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance inspections and assist in landscape planning.
  • Attend training sessions and maintain professional conduct.

Skills

Good health
Valid Alabama driver's license
CDL may be required
Alternative qualifications accepted
