Job summary

Teachers' Memorial Middle School, part of Norwich Public Schools, is seeking a Head Custodian to provide custodial services, maintain a safe and clean environment, and supervise night staff. The role requires reliability, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to manage building security, utilities, and routine repairs.

Starting immediately, the position reports to the Facilities Director and Building Administrator, with a salary range reflecting district terms.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications per Board decisions.
• Must be punctual and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovel, plow, and sand walks and driveways as appropriate.
• Check exits and panic hardware during operating hours.
• Supervise night custodians and review their work.
• Clean classrooms, corridors, toilets, floors and fixtures daily.
• Maintain floors, wash windows, and perform basic repairs as directed.
• Open/close building daily and secure doors and windows.
• Manage inventory of supplies and coordinate with supervisor for replacements.
