Job summary

Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Nebraska seeks a Multi-Building Custodian to maintain safe, clean schools across buildings. This full-time, 12-month position reports to the Building Administrator / Custodial Supervisor and supports daily opening/closing, light maintenance, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Participate in training as needed.
• Annual evaluation under district policy.

Responsibilities

• Open/close buildings and secure doors/windows daily.
• Keep buildings, sidewalks, drives, and play areas clean and safe.
• Perform routine mechanical and maintenance tasks; service schedules for motors and lights.
• Regulate HVAC to ensure comfort and energy efficiency.
• Shovel, plow, sand walkways and ensure safe grounds.
• Inspect exits and maintain cleanliness of classrooms and corridors.
• Clean facilities, wax floors, disinfect toilets, and maintain chalkboards/whiteboards.
• Move furniture as needed for activities; report major repairs promptly.
• Perform weekend checks and participate in rotation with other buildings.
