Job summary

Norfolk Public Schools is seeking an on-call Substitute Custodian for the 2026-2027 school year in Norfolk, Nebraska. The role is on-call and part-time, reporting to the Building Administrator and Custodial Supervisor.

A high school diploma is required. You will be responsible for closing the building, securing doors and windows, cleaning classrooms and restrooms, sweeping, disinfecting, moving furniture, and performing minor repairs.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma.
• Position is on-call and part-time.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Close the building each day and ensure all doors/windows are secured; lights off except safety ones.
• Keep classrooms, hallways and surroundings neat and clean at all times.
• Handle mechanical facility functions and light building maintenance.
• Shovel, plow, or sand walks and steps as necessary.
• Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture; disinfect toilet floors daily.
• Move furniture as directed by the principal; report major repairs promptly.
• Remain on school premises during authorized hours; perform other duties as assigned.
