Job summary

Gridley Unified School District is seeking a dependable maintenance worker to perform general maintenance of school facilities based on a prepared work schedule. The role includes requisitioning materials, cleaning grounds, inspecting playgrounds, and assisting with light construction and loading/unloading tasks.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, plus the ability to read safety rules and instructions and follow directions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• One year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others.
• Valid CA driver's license required by first day of service.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance of school facilities from a prepared work schedule.
• Requisitions materials and supplies as needed.
• Picks up paper and other debris from the grounds and buildings; empties trash containers on grounds, sweeps walks and entrances, etc.
• Inspects, cleans and restores playground and grounds, for broken equipment and vandalism.
• Does minor construction work on buildings, including painting, cement work, etc.
• Assists school personnel with heavy objects, loading and unloading of trucks and stocking shelves as requested.
• Reports the need for repairs and/or performs simple maintenance and makes repairs.
• Reports unsafe conditions to the site administrator or lead custodian.
• Makes a security check of all buildings following activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
