Job summary

Bedford County Public Schools STAUNTON RIVER HIGH in Moneta, Virginia seeks a Custodian to clean and maintain school facilities and grounds.

The role includes daily cleaning of classrooms and corridors, door checks, window washing, and grounds maintenance. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license. This is a full-time, 12-month position with responsibilities for opening/closing the building and safety compliance.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times, including sidewalks, driveways, steps and play areas.
Checks daily to ensure exit doors are secured and working properly during school hours.
Sweeps and/or vacuums and dusts classrooms daily.
Cleans corridors after school and as needed during the day.
Disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans fixtures and drinking fountains.
Washes windows inside and outside at least twice per year.
Maintains school grounds including grass cutting, tree trimming, weeds, mulching and snow removal.
Opens and closes the building daily and ensures doors/windows are secured and lights off when not needed.
Moves furniture as directed by the principal.
Complies with trash storage and disposal procedures.
Performs related duties as required.
