Job summary

Hickory City Schools seeks a Carpenter/General Maintenance worker to perform on-site maintenance repairs and assist with major repairs as required. Under supervision, you will support operations and maintenance staff and help ensure a safe, efficient school environment.

The role covers a variety of tasks including roofing maintenance, drywall work, cabinet repairs, plumbing and electrical minor repairs, with an emphasis on safety and reliability in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and experience in maintenance-related area preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must be physically able to operate power tools and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work safely and follow supervisor instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled roof, ceiling, and door hardware repair functions.
• Assists in minor repairs and maintenance of roofing systems and related tasks.
• Repairs drywall, cabinets, tile, glass and furnishings as needed.
• Performs minor repairs on plumbing, mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Loads/unloads materials and maintains inventory of tools and parts.
