Job summary

Ringgold School District is seeking an Accounting Specialist to manage daily fiscal operations, payroll processing bi-weekly, benefits administration, and budget development for the district.

The role reports to the Director of Finance and requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, knowledge of governmental fund accounting, and strong computer skills. Prior budget and payroll experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Knowledge of governmental fund accounting
• Competence in using computers for school accounting and reporting, word processing and spreadsheets
• Minimum of two years’ experience in general budgetary, bookkeeping, and accounting operations

Responsibilities

• Enter cash receipts into budgetary accounting system
• Prepare journal entries for approval by Dir. of Finance
• Assist in preparation of financial spreadsheets and schedules
• Assist in compiling information for the Annual Audit
• Develop the General Fund Budget and Annual Financial Report
• Maintain budgetary accounting codes and review receivables and tuition billing/payments
• Maintain employee records and ensure timely updates and proper authorization
• Process biweekly payroll including input, balancing, and payroll checks
• Research and resolve payroll/payroll tax discrepancies
• Close out payroll and prepare tax deposits and fund transfers
• Manage payroll deductions and benefits, including Section 125 plan
• Prepare and reconcile benefit invoices and reports
• Monitor workers' compensation processes and attendance
• Assist with year-end payroll reports and W-2s
• Ensure compliance with regulations and file payroll returns
