Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a day custodian for our Davis Elementary School to perform general cleaning duties and assist with lunch coverage. The role requires lifting up to 45 pounds, moving up to 75 pounds, and operating commercial cleaning equipment.

Work is Monday–Friday with potential after-hours and weekend commitments. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, cafeterias, halls, and restrooms; setting up for events; reporting issues to the supervisor; and

Qualifications

Working knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and cleaning standards.
Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment.
Requires the ability to use standard English to read, communicate, understand and follow written instructions; write simple sentences, and comprehend labeling on products.
Ability to work safely and efficiently with machinery.
Basic computer and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

Performs general cleaning duties to include inside fixtures, floors, walls, and windows.
Assists with lunch coverage (day shift) and cleaning of cafeteria.
Moves furniture, strips floors, snow removal, and trash removal.
Monitors halls and restrooms to ensure adequate stock levels.
Secures building where applicable.
Keeps grounds and outside walkways clean around the perimeter.
Provides coverage for after school and weekend activities.
Sets up and tears down for school events.
May assist Building Operations Supervisor with building repairs.
Unlocks and locks facilities as required.
Reports maintenance issues to BOS daily.
