Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks a dedicated custodian to maintain clean, safe school facilities in Virginia. The role includes general cleaning, cafeteria support, event setup, and after-hours coverage as needed.

Responsibilities cover moving furniture, securing buildings, reporting maintenance issues, and complying with background checks. The position requires physical stamina and ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment. Hours are full-time, 8 per day, 260 days per year.

Qualifications

• Must read and follow written instructions in English.
• Experience with commercial cleaning equipment.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
• Ability to speak effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning duties inside fixtures, floors, walls, and windows.
• Assists with cafeteria cleaning and lunch coverage.
• Moves furniture, strips floors, cleans carpets, and removes trash.
• Monitors restrooms and inventory levels, keeps areas stocked.
• Secures building and reports maintenance issues to BOS.
• Cleans grounds and walkways; supports after-school activities.
• Sets up and tears down for school events.
• Occasionally assists with building repairs as needed.
• Unlocks and locks facilities; follows priorities with supervisor approval.
• Works as directed by Custodial Manager and Zone Supervisor.
