Job summary

East Providence School Department is seeking a Substitute Custodian to perform custodial duties across district buildings on an as-needed basis. The role involves cleaning classrooms, lavatories, offices, kitchens, gyms, and other spaces, with shifts day or night, and at elementary or secondary levels.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and English proficiency. BCI background checks and safety trainings are required prior to first assignment.

Qualifications

• Must communicate in English at proficiency level to recognize signs and hazards.
• Must read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Prior custodial or building maintenance experience preferred.
• National and state criminal background check (BCI) and safety training before first assignment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains all areas within district buildings and grounds.
• Operates sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and dusting tasks and restores cleanliness.
• Disinfects lavatories daily and replenishes supplies as needed.
• Assists in snow/ice removal and grounds maintenance as required.
• Secures building and follows opening/closing procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal or Facilities Director.
