Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking a Custodial Worker I for a school-based role. The position involves cleaning and maintaining school facilities, ensuring cleanliness and order, and assisting with moving furniture as needed.

Responsibilities include floor care, window and surface cleaning, restroom sanitation, trash removal, equipment operation, and light maintenance tasks. The role follows policy, safety practices, and union guidelines.

Qualifications

• Six months of custodial or cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and basic safety practices.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power cleaning tools.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
• Preferred: completion of eighth grade.
• Optional Maryland Noncommercial Class C driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, vacuums, dusts, mops, waxes floors and uses standard cleaning equipment.
• Waters, washes windows, walls, ceilings and polishes surfaces.
• Maintains sanitary restrooms and polishes furniture.
• Transports trash to disposal locations and moves furniture as needed.
• Replaces light bulbs and may remove weeds or snow from sidewalks.
• Maintains supplies and materials with the team.
• Complies with equal employment, non-discrimination policies and laws.
