Job summary

CRAVEN COUNTY SCHOOLS in Bridgeton Elementary, New Bern, NC, seeks a Custodian I to perform routine cleaning and building maintenance. The role reports to the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Custodial Supervisor and operates under a 12-month term with pay grade 50.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, windows, restrooms, and common areas; replenishing supplies; locking facilities; and reporting damages or repairs to supervision. Physical requirements apply, with non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Routine cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow simple directions.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways and closets.
• Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces; cleans rest room fixtures.
• Replenishes tissue, towels and soap in rest rooms, kitchens and classrooms; empties trash.
• Locks and unlocks doors; sorts and stores material for recycling.
• Reports to supervisor any damages or needed repairs.
• Turns heating and air conditioning equipment on and off.
