Job summary

Greene County Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff. Responsibilities include daily cleaning, trash removal, floor care, bathroom sanitation, and light maintenance while upholding safety standards.

The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work without close supervision, with duties distributed across classrooms, hallways, entryways, and common areas throughout the school building.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to follow instructions and work without close supervision.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling heavy objects, while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• In person job attendance.
• Keeps the building and campus grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Removes trash from classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices and takes out to dumpster regularly (esp on Fridays).
• Keeps entry ways clean and clear, cleans glass and vacuums mats.
• Dust mops hallways and classrooms daily and as needed; use floor machine to maintain shine; clean edges.
• Cleans bathrooms, disinfects toilets/seats; restocks paper goods; mop floors.
• Be a friendly face to students and staff; offer services.
• Answers to emergency calls; spills, floods, etc.
• Launder mops and rags; vacuum and maintain equipment.
• Ensure gym, stairs, and common areas are tidy; maintain safety.
• Seasonal or as-needed duties; inventory supplies; light maintenance.
