Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks a dedicated Custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across school facilities. This full-time role involves general cleaning, moving furniture, cafeteria support, and light maintenance tasks under supervision.

The position requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 45 pounds, operate cleaning equipment, and work 8 hours a day, 260 days per year, with occasional after-hours coverage. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Basic cleaning knowledge and standards.
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment.
• English language proficiency to read and follow instructions.
• Background investigations: FBI, State Police, CPS, TB tests.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning duties to include inside fixtures, floors, walls, and windows.
• Assists with school lunch coverage (day shift) and cleaning of cafeteria.
• Performs cleaning duties including moving furniture, stripping floors, snow removal, and trash removal.
• Monitors halls and restrooms to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Secures building where applicable.
• Keeps grounds and outside walkways clean around the perimeter.
• Provides coverage for after school and weekend activities.
• Setting-up and tearing-down for school events
• May assist BOS and maintenance with building repairs.
• Unlock and lock facilities as required.
• Reports maintenance issues to BOS daily.
