Job summary

Greene County Schools seeks a dedicated custodian to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment. The role involves daily cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gym, offices, and common areas, along with trash removal and basic maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include operating floor machines, restocking supplies, reporting issues, and assisting during drills and emergencies. The position emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail within a school setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow instructions and work without close supervision.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing and pulling heavy objects.
• Acknowledge safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attend in person as scheduled.
• Keep the building and campus grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Remove trash from classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices and take out to dumpster regularly (esp on Fridays).
• Keep entryways clean and clear; clean glass and vacuums mats.
• Dust mop hallways and classrooms daily; maintain floors with floor machine and scraper for gum.
• Clean bathrooms and locker rooms; restock, mop, and disinfect surfaces.
• Dust mop gym floors; operate floor machine with water as needed.
• Clean offices, nurses' stations, break rooms, library, water fountains, windows and other surfaces.
• Report maintenance issues and security concerns.
• Be friendly with students and staff; assist as needed.
• Respond to emergencies, spills, floods, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness of lockers, desks, tables, vent covers; wash tops.
