Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a reliable Custodian to sanitize and maintain school facilities, including floors, restrooms, windows, and outdoor walkways. The role supports student safety and clean learning environments across campuses.

You will perform routine cleaning, basic equipment maintenance, and assist with after-hours calls as needed, while following all safety protocols and attending required trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• WCPSS trainings provided post-employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Willingness to attend required employee trainings.
• Experience in custodial work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure entire school/facility is sanitized, cleaned, and maintained.
• Move and arrange furniture as needed.
• Perform minor/preventative maintenance on custodial equipment; report repairs and safety concerns.
• Open/close buildings at start/end of workdays and manage lighting as scheduled.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Respond to after-hour emergencies and inclement weather calls.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
