Job summary

Johnston County Public Schools is hiring a Central Custodian at Cleveland High School in Clayton, NC. The 12‑month position requires cleaning, floor care, janitorial duties and light groundskeeping under supervision of the Principal.

Responsibilities include cleaning, restocking supplies, trash removal, snow/deicing tasks, light maintenance and occasional bus-related duties. Immediate starting date; standard full‑time hours with state‑required safety practices.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and perform light groundskeeping.
• Willingness to attend training and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax and buff floors; clean restrooms; replenish supplies.
• Clean windows, walls, woodwork, fixtures; dust desks and furniture; empty trash.
• Polices grounds, remove debris, shovel snow or apply de-icing compounds when needed.
• Change light bulbs; may open/secure buildings; manage room setup for events.
• Assist with bus driving duties as assigned by the principal; maintain safety standards.
