Job summary

Orange County Schools seeks a Custodian at Grady A Brown Elementary School in Hillsborough, NC. The role involves cleaning school facilities, assisting with deliveries, and supporting daily operations as assigned. Salary grade 55 plus supplement; non-exempt, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday with evenings as needed.

Starting immediately, prior custodial experience is preferred. Reports to the Principal or Head Custodian; driver’s license required for some duties. Position posted until filled.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written directions.
• Ability to work with school staff and maintain professional relationships.
• Basic reading/speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Secure the building, take out trash, clean bathrooms, halls, classrooms, and gym.
• Mop and buff the halls; vacuum carpeted areas.
• Clean the cafeteria after school activities.
• Change lights and replenish paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.
• Dust and wipe desks, clean white boards, and wipe walls.
• Sweep, mop, and buff floors in the gym and other areas.
• Assist when other custodial staff are absent.
