Job summary

Orange County Schools is seeking a Custodial Substitute to support daily cleaning and operations across elementary, middle, and high school facilities. This on-call, part-time role reports to the Head Custodian and Principal, with hours set by the Custodial Foreman.

The position requires a High School Diploma, a valid NC driver’s license, and the ability to perform medium physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• High School Diploma.
• Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the NC DMV.
• Work is medium physical labor; capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the custodian/head custodian in daily duties of school custodial operations.
• Answer radio calls from front office staff, administrators, and custodians.
• Check restrooms regularly for cleanliness and stock supplies.
• Assist with breakfast and lunch functions, sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, and trash removal.
• Set up for events and district meetings.
• Check school grounds inside and out daily.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect high-touch areas.
• Assist in unloading and stocking deliveries to supply rooms.
• Assist in minor maintenance on appliances as abilities allow.
