Job summary

Watson Chapel School District Coleman Intermediate School in Pine Bluff, AR, is seeking a Part-time Custodian to support daily cleaning and maintenance tasks in classrooms, restrooms and common areas. The role operates on a 174-day contract from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a non-exempt status and no prior experience required.

The custodian will perform routine cleaning, report hazards, and assist with safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with district policies.

Qualifications

• No prior experience is necessary.
• Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine custodial activities at assigned District school site; sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other assigned work areas; spot cleans and shampoos carpets.
• Cleans classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, offices and related facilities as assigned; sweeps, mops and cleans gymnasium floor as assigned; spot mops spills and removes gum and debris; cleans tables, chairs and floors after lunch periods as assigned.
• Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers, and urinals; cleans mirrors, tile and windows.
• Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; reports and recommends need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority; maintains security of buildings; reports suspicious or unauthorized individuals on campus; reports infractions of rules to supervisor.
• Picks up and rakes paper, trash and debris around school grounds and in buildings; sweeps and cleans walkways and entrances; disposes of trash according to established procedures; washes out trash cans and follows established sanitation procedures and standards.
