Job summary

Auburn-Washburn Unified School District 437 is seeking a Custodian (Part-Time Night) to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment across its facilities. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work with minimal supervision during night shifts.

The position involves various janitorial tasks, from cleaning classrooms and corridors to maintaining grounds and reporting major repairs.

Qualifications

• High school graduate, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Extensive janitorial experience, some of which shall have been at the level of the position.
• Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
• Ability to get along well with others.

Responsibilities

• Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovel, plow, and/or sand walks and steps as appropriate.
• Raise the United States and Kansas flag at or before 8:00am on each school day, and lower it at or after 3:30pm.
• Clean classrooms daily and dust furniture and woodwork.
• Clean corridors after school each day, and/or during the day when their condition requires it.
• Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilet floors daily and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Wash all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary.
• Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
• Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities.
• Perform routine janitorial duties as required.
• Attendance is required.
